🎯 1. Concept: Where are we?

Welcome to Day 7! Today, we are learning about Spatial Awareness. That is a very big math phrase that just means “knowing where things are.”

To tell someone where to find something, we have to use special direction words like: Up, Down, Left, Right, Above, Below, Between, and Behind!

πŸ’‘ 2. The Secret “L” Trick

Do you ever forget which hand is your Left hand and which is your Right hand?

  • Hold both of your hands out in front of you.
  • Point your pointer fingers up to the sky, and stick your thumbs out to the side.
  • Look at your hands! The hand that makes a perfect, correct letter “L” is your LEFT hand!

*The other direction words are easy: UP is towards the sky, and DOWN is towards the floor!

🌍 3. Math in Our Daily Life

We use direction words all day long!

Scenario 1: When you cross the road, what is the most important rule? You must look Left, then look Right, and then look Left again to make sure no cars are coming!

Scenario 2: Your mother asks you to get a book. She says, “It is on the shelf above the TV, next to the vase.” By using those words, you know exactly where to look without tearing the house apart!

πŸ“ 4. Home Practice (Fun Tasks)

Parents, please guide your child with these fun movement games!

  • Task A: The Blindfold Robot: Pretend your parent is a robot. They have to close their eyes. You have to guide them safely across the room by giving them directions: “Take 2 steps forward. Turn left. Take 1 step right.”
  • Task B: Simon Says: Play Simon Says with directions! “Simon says put your hands ABOVE your head. Simon says touch your LEFT ear. Simon says look BEHIND you!”
