Day 09: Staying Strong – The importance of exercise and sleep

Foundation Stage Science | Apex Institute of Maths and Sciences

1 Level 1: The Quest (Concept)

Our body is like a magical machine! To keep it running fast and smooth, we need two secret ingredients: Movement and Rest. Just like a toy car needs a battery charge, our bodies need sleep to recharge and exercise to stay strong.

💪 Strong Body = Exercise + Good Sleep 😴

Why Exercise? Why Sleep?
Makes muscles and bones strong. Helps the brain remember things.
Keeps our heart happy and healthy. Gives us energy for the next day.
2 Level 2: Power-Ups (Tools/Methods)

Use these “Power-Up” rules to grow taller and smarter every day!

The 10-Hour Rule: Children in Grades 1-2 usually need about $10$ to $11$ hours of sleep every single night to grow properly!
🏃
Active Play
60 mins/day
🥛
Healthy Fuel
Water & Milk
🌙
Early Bed
No screens at night
3 Level 3: Mini-Boss Battles (Applications)
Scenario 1: The Playground Race
Rahul plays football every evening, while Sam sits and watches TV. When they run a race, Rahul doesn’t get tired easily. Why? Because his heart and legs are trained by exercise!
Scenario 2: The Grumpy Morning
Sita stayed up late to watch a movie. The next day in school, she couldn’t answer questions and felt sleepy. Her brain didn’t get enough “recharge time” to think clearly.
4 Level 4: Home Quests (Activities)
Quest 1: The Animal Yoga
With your parents, try to copy 3 animals: Stretch like a Cat, hop like a Frog, and stand on one leg like a Flamingo. Count to 10 for each!
Quest 2: The Sleep Log
Ask your mom or dad to help you note down what time you go to bed tonight and what time you wake up. Check if you got at least 10 hours of “Super-Power Sleep”!
