Day 1: The Magic of Numbers! 🔢

Foundation Stage Mathematics | Apex Institute of Maths and Sciences

🎯 1. Concept: What are Numbers?

Welcome to Day 1 of our summer crash course! Today, we are going to learn about the magic of counting. Numbers help us understand “how many” things are around us. Whenever we want to know the quantity of toys, chocolates, or friends we have, we use numbers to count them.

💡 2. Let’s Look at Examples

Look around you! Numbers are everywhere:

  • There is exactly 1 Sun in the sky. ☀️
  • A bicycle has 2 wheels. 🚲
  • An auto-rickshaw has 3 wheels. 🛺
  • A car has 4 wheels. 🚗
  • You have 5 fingers on one hand! ✋

🌍 3. Math in Our Daily Life

Math is not just in textbooks; it helps us every single day right at home!

Scenario 1: Your mother is cooking delicious dal and asks you, “Can you bring me 3 tomatoes from the fridge?” You use counting to make sure you bring exactly three!

Scenario 2: You are playing cricket with your friends. You need to count how many runs you scored or how many players are in your team.

📝 4. Home Practice (Fun Tasks)

Parents, please guide your child with these fun observation tasks!

  • Task A: Walk around your house and count how many doors you have. Write the number down in your rough notebook.
  • Task B: Open your geometry box or pencil pouch. Count exactly how many pencils and erasers are inside it.
  • Task C: Draw a beautiful flower and give it exactly 6 petals.
