Day 08: Physical vs. Chemical Changes
Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5) Science | Apex Institute of Maths and Sciences
🚀 Level 1: The Quest (Concept)
Welcome, Young Scientist! Today we explore how things change around us. Is it just a “makeover” or a total transformation? Let’s find out!
Chemical Change: A brand new substance is born! You usually can’t turn it back. Like a piece of wood turning into ash after a fire.
⚡ Level 2: Power-Ups (Tools & Methods)
- 🔥 Heat or Light is produced
- 🫧 Bubbles (Gas) appear
- 🎨 Unexpected Color Change
- 👃 New Smell/Odour
⚔️ Level 3: Mini-Boss Battles (Daily Life)
You cut a fresh apple into slices. It changes shape (Physical), but if you leave it out, it turns brown and smells different (Chemical).
A shiny iron bike left in the rain turns reddish-brown. This is rust ($Fe_2O_3$)—a new substance formed by air and water! (Chemical Change).
🏡 Level 4: Home Quests (Activities)
Stir a spoonful of salt into a glass of water until it disappears. Ask a parent: Is the salt gone forever or just hiding? (Hint: If you evaporate the water, the salt returns!)
Take a piece of paper. Tear it into tiny pieces. Now, ask your parent to help you safely observe a “burnt” matchstick. Compare the torn paper (Physical) with the burnt wood (Chemical).
This is very easy teacher 😁
Thank you teacher 😀
IT is so interesting
