Day 07: My Amazing Bones
Foundation Stage Science | Apex Institute of Maths and Sciences
Meet Your Skeleton! π¦΄
Imagine if your body was like a soft jelly with no shape. You couldn’t stand up, jump, or even hold a pencil! Your Skeleton is the strong frame made of bones that gives your body its shape and protects your soft organs inside.
Did you know? Adults have 206 bones, but babies are born with about 300! As you grow, some bones join together.
| Main Bone | What it protects |
|---|---|
| Skull | Your Brain π§ |
| Rib Cage | Heart & Lungs π« |
The Bone Formula for Strength
The Calcium Rule: To keep your bones like “Armor,” you need Calcium and Vitamin D!
$$ \text{Milk} + \text{Sunlight} = \text{Stronger Bones} $$
- π‘οΈ Protection: Covering delicate organs.
- ποΈ Support: Holding you up straight.
- π Movement: Working with muscles to help you run.
Bones in Action!
When you tap your forehead, you feel a hard surface. That is your Skull. It acts exactly like a bicycle helmet, making sure your brain stays safe if you bump your head!
Take a deep breath. Feel your chest expand? Your Ribs are like a birdcage that protects your heart while giving your lungs space to fill with air.
Family Mission!
With a parent, try to find your “hinge” bones! Move your elbow and your knee. Can you see how they move like a door? Draw a picture of your arm bending.
Look in your kitchen. Find two things that have Calcium (like milk, yogurt, or spinach). Have one for a “Bone-Building Snack” today!
