Day 5: The Butterfly Secret ππ¦
Foundation Stage Science | Apex Institute of Maths and Sciences
π― 1. Concept: Super Changes!
Some animals do not just grow bigger; they change their whole shape! This amazing change is called Metamorphosis.
A butterfly does this in 4 magic stages, called a **Life Cycle**. The circle never stops!
Figure 1: The Pasta Life Cycle Diagram.
π‘ 2. The Pasta Memory Trick
Use different pasta shapes to remember the 4 stages:
- Orzo = Tiny Egg (Stage 1).
- Rotini (Spiral) = Crawly Caterpillar (Stage 2).
- Conchiglie (Shell) = Hidden Chrysalis (Stage 3).
- Bowtie = Beautiful Butterfly (Stage 4)!
π 3. Home Lab: The Pasta Life Cycle
- Get a paper plate and draw a big circle with 4 sections.
- Glue the correct pasta shape into each section: Orzo (Egg) → Rotini (Caterpillar) → Shell (Chrysalis) → Bowtie (Butterfly).
- Draw arrows showing the circle moving!
- Observation: You have made a model of how an animal completely changes its shape!
β 4. Day 5 Practice Test
All answers can be found in the memory trick and diagram above.
Reason: Animals only change once and then stop growing.
