๐ŸŽฏ 1. Concept: The Friends of 10

Welcome to Week 3! Today we are going on an Addition Adventure. The most important numbers in addition are the Friends of 10!

The number 10 is very special in math. If you can memorize which two numbers stick together to make exactly 10, adding bigger numbers later will be super easy!

๐Ÿ’ก 2. The Magic Number Bonds

Meet the Best Friends of 10! They always hold hands:

  • 0 and 10 (0 + 10 = 10)
  • 1 and 9 (1 + 9 = 10)
  • 2 and 8 (2 + 8 = 10)
  • 3 and 7 (3 + 7 = 10)
  • 4 and 6 (4 + 6 = 10)
  • 5 and 5 (Twins! 5 + 5 = 10)

Did you know? You can flip them around! 4 + 6 is the same as 6 + 4!

๐ŸŒ 3. Math in Our Daily Life

We use the Friends of 10 without even noticing!

Scenario 1: Your Hands! You have exactly 10 fingers. If you put 3 fingers down, how many are still standing? 7! Because 3 and 7 are Friends of 10.

Scenario 2: Shopping for Toys. If a toy car costs โ‚น10, and you only have โ‚น8 in your pocket, how many more rupees do you need? You need โ‚น2, because 8 and 2 make 10!

๐Ÿ“ 4. Home Practice (Fun Tasks)

Parents, please guide your child with these number bond games!

  • Task A: The Finger Game: Ask your parent to hold up some fingers (like 4). You have to instantly hold up the right number of fingers to make 10 (you hold up 6!). See how fast you can go!
  • Task B: The Toy Box: Get 10 small toys (like blocks or cars). Put a few in a box and leave the rest outside. If you see 2 outside the box, can you guess how many are hiding inside?
